His time as Charlton Manager will alway be fondly remembered by me, as he was utterly useless. No clowns at Palace, please. We have enough already. He was only manager for 6 league games and he took over a Charlton team that had lost 8 of their previous 12 league games from the start of the season, a run which got Dowie the sack. Personally, with his track record, I'd welcome him to the club but it will never happen because Dougie won't be sacked by Parish. It can't be denied that Reed earned Southampton a lot of money with the players they signed and sold on. Everyone has a cycle, maybe the last 2 years he is on a downward trend? That said when you buy and sell like Southampton have done since they were promoted sooner or later your luck will run out. Hopefully wherever he ends up will hold on to their players a little longer to build a team instead of making a profit.

Phil A. is a nobody CEO - just don't understand why such a kn..head is on the Palace payroll! What is he really contributing... Why do you need to know what he is contributing? He is a back room boy, you don’t stay in your job the length of time he has, without being good at what you do. Survived 2 administrations and Jordan.

Southampton’s recruitment system is designed to minimise impetuosity and chance. Les Reed was one of a group responsible for monotoring the shortlist of players, the others being Ross Wilson (Current Director of football operations) and Bill Green (Chief scout). Players are brought through a consultative process. Les Reed was one of the inner circle with permanent access to Southampton's 'Black box' which is the centrepiece of the club’s forward planning. The black box contains a live database of data and video highlights from European leagues that the club monitor. The idea is to allow Southampton to identify suitable players to sign. Les Reed had a range of football responsibilities. Edited by Willo (22 Nov 2018 6.06pm) Not wishing to doubt your infinite knowledge, but it was Paul Mitchell who unearthed a lot of their bargain buys, which were sold on for big money, not Les Reed.

Talksport who guessed the new manager before others claim that Southampton want to bring Mitchell back. He is currently at Leipzig so of course knows the new Manager, did he recommend him?. I believe one of the reporters is a Southampton fan so it sounds like he has an inside track at the club.
