I would like to add my condolences. He was a bit of a hero of mine in the late 60s and still remember some of his goals, and particularly that header! RIP......

Always remembering walking from the Holmesdale to the Whitehorse end at half time!

One of my favourite players. His throw-ins were comparable to those of the great Bobby Woodruff.

The Team (3-5-1-1): John Jackson; Alan Stephenson, John McCormick, Jim Cannon; Don Rogers, Geoff Thomas, Stevie Kember, Michael Hughes, Peter Taylor; Johnny Byrne; Cliff Holton. Subs: Julian Speroni, Kenny Sansom, Bobby Kellard, Ian Wright, Mark Bright, Andrew Johnson, Marouane Chamakh.

RIP Roger.
I was there to enjoy that bullet header against Chelsea and again to see you score the only goal against Man City to keep us up in the last game of the season back in 1970.

No, it was Roger Hoy, as seen here v Man City on 6th April 1970. The winning goal in a 1-0 win. RIP Roger and thank you for the memories.

Now tell me, could Messi play in a quagmire like that?

That’s a proper muddy pitch - when dirty play had a totally different meaning!!!
