There is a disconnect somewhere along the line - in defence of Freedman he brought in Jedi, Murray, Moritz, Bolasie and Delaney for a grand total of 300k, and he improved players like David Wright by seeing how they could best exploit their tactical nous, so Doogie's trying to get players who can develop into better players once a certain penny drops, and he is confident he knows what that penny is, Roy is just looking at players who aren't good enough, the Rakip episode seems to highlight this. And from what Holloway said when he left ("I'm tired, but I haven't said what I'm tired of" and the short tenure of managers I think Parrish is more difficult to work with than his public image suggests - the fact we've got a scouting set up which buys players for the manager who mainly ignores them is strange - out of necessity Parrish has become a bit short-termist, he's clearly trying to lay down foundations but Doogie and Roy clearly have different opinions, and if I had to make one of them in charge of recruitment policy, despite his Championship miracles, I would let Roy dictate policy from top to bottom, his recruitment at West Brom and Fulham was excellent, not so at Liverpool, but I would trust his choice of player coming to Palace. And on a relted note, where is Ian Moody these days?

This thread seems to be missing a rather important point. We have changed the scouting set up this September and the scout is a Hodgson favourite who he worked with at Fulham. January will be his first transfer window.

A big point has been missed we do not have a proper scouting network just look up who we have on the books it's a joke for a Premier League club our whole backroom setup is embarrassing.

The other problem is when you have people like Freedman and Moody doing the deals.
