Good point. That is why you have to be wary at taking a punt with strikers at lower fees and ending up with a number of mediocre ones. High stakes but the probabilities of success are usually but not always greater. Unfortunately you don't win games without scoring unless you are playing against John Terry, Tony Popovic or Lee Dixon who may oblige for you.

Look at Krzysztof Piatek, signed by Genoa for 4 million euros.

That is half of what we paid for Sorloth, and the bloke has scored 9 in 8. Its early days but he looks absolutely class. Now who knows - maybe he wouldnt consider playing for Palace but Genoa arent exactly Inter.

Sorloth couldnt cut it in the Eredivisie.

Our scouting in general has been poor for a long time, save a few notable exceptions. Our scouting of strikers and our inability to unearth any decent strikers since Dwight Gayle has been very poor.

Just seen that goal by Jordan Mutch for the VWCs. Just saying!

Always remembering walking from the Holmesdale to the Whitehorse end at half time!

i dont think its fair to drop andros hes done nowt wrong, and ayew certainly isnt worthy of his starting place!

i do however (and have done since bentekkers lost form) that kai kai ahould be giveb a chance, it cant hurt.

on the subject of purchasing a new striker, them market is so f***ed up we cant afford another top class striker unless you were going to play the old fashioned little & large partnership and bring in a little speedster.

He also hasn't really done anything at all, he's had some truly awful games this season. With Wilf being double, triple marked there should be space for Townsend to take advantage but he just doesn't seem to be able to.

I imagine we will bring in an attacking player in January, but it's not just one player, it's a mindset throughout the whole team. Most teams don't have a 20 goal a season striker.

Goalscorers this season:

Man City - 11
Arsenal - 10
Man Utd - 9
Chelsea - 9
Bournemouth - 8
Wolves - 8
Leicester - 8
Liverpool - 7
Burnley - 7
Cardiff - 7
Spurs - 7
Watford - 7
Everton - 6
Newcastle - 5
Brighton - 5
Fulham - 4
Huddersfield - 4
Southampton - 3
West Ham - 3
Palace - 3

It's been very easy to say it's all Benteke/Ayew/Parish's fault that we don't have a striker banging in the goals. But at this point, collectively the players have to take more responsibility.

As well as the penalty, on Sunday Tomkins missed a simple header with the goal begging. Townsend, McArthur, Luka, Tomkins and Sakho should all be threats.

In response to PatrickA's post, I have been saying this for sometime now and agree that Palace must score goals, "if you don't score goals you don't win". If we're lucky we may get a 0-0 point, so the ball has got to be put in, simple. Another aspect of our game is that Palace have got to start getting stuck in to the opponents more, the Watford game 2nd half was a good example, they didn't give us an inch, we tend to give other sides to much time on the ball. So get in there, want the bull, play hard and fast. We need an attacking goal getter, 4 or 5 Zaha's would be great, give Wickham a start if fully fit, so come on Palace "get in there" and make us glad all over again.
