Unless we go 3-5-2 you can't play him as a winger. He's too good at right back. It's clear as day that the change Roy must make is to play Luka, Kouyate and Meyer in a three. I have great admiration for Roy but tactically he's been poor this season.

This thread interested me; I'd had the same idea. My start point was that no one exploits the holes opposing defences leave when they mob Wilf. I think we miss Joel War in pressing up the right whenever there's a chance. No discredit to AWB; he does at least as much as Wardy would but the team reaps little reward. With them both on the right flank, maybe even forming an understanding, oppositions would be rash to get too right sided. I think it's worth a try not as a starting line up but subbing Ward for Townsend at around 75 - 80 minutes. Even if it's just a temporary measure till Benteke gets back; however little regarded he is here, other teams don't seem happy to give him the space he'd have got against Southampton or Wolves.

Terrible idea in my opinion, he has broken in to the squad as a fullback in a position we were crying out for. He wasn’t pulling up any trees in the u23s as a winger.

His strengths are his tacking and his marking. He is really good at defensive 1v1s one of the best at the club according to Wilf. Why risk setting his progress back while he develops in that role and understands it more.

Who else do we have who is good enough at RB? Ward? Seriously?
