Puncheon was finished at the age McArthur is now and he arguably had done more for the club

Whattttttttt Jimmy Mac is one our better players. Punch always technically good, but work rate was never up there with Jimmy Mac. Good bloke to have in the team and squad, always gives 100% and is minimum 7/10 every week.

But his passing range is very limited and he is too easy to run by. That is only going to get more of an issue. He has scored some very useful goals the last couple of years but that miss against Huddersfield was disappointing. He peaked 2 years ago and unless he has something left in the tank we will be looking to shift him before the end of the contract. Or be in the Championship

if you really want to be negative, throw in the misses against Southampton. on the positive side, he's a box to box midfielder great at linking up play. a high class work horse. superb in fact.

Underrated player, he’s just got a bit of magic about him, the way he always pops up and scores or he will do a clever flick , step over or dummy. Last season away at Leicester he was absolutely sensational. And he’s had plenty of other good games since. He’s probably been our 3rd best player so far this season.

Has the knack of finding space in the box and works tirelessly in midfield. Great news.

Great player although thought he had signed a deal in the summer.
Big hearted and gives it his all every game, get the impression he really loves the club.
Good news!

i love Jimmy Mac and he is a great servant for the club but i am surprised by this deal as he already had 2 years left of his current £50k a week contract.

So effectively he has increased his deal by an extra 1 year and has no doubt got a bit of a pay rise.

Not sure why we have given him new terms at this point in his contract, especially when surely SP needs to try and get our wages under control (highest % against revenue in premier league - 79%).

Good luck to him, and his agent has performed a blinder, but not sure it was needed.

This could of course mean we keep him for another year and are then able to sell onto his beloved Rangers with 2 years still on contract for a sum rather than a free.

Great player, whether as a starter or from the bench, but ultimately to be replaced by Meyer or RLC (fingers crossed we get him at some point) in my opinion.

Jimmy Mc is very much the unsung hero of our squad. I'm delighted he's got three years, maybe it'll see him into the coaching side (assuming he comes with subtitles )

I doubt whether Rangers could afford his wages

Rangers were interested as it was widely reported he was available last summer on a free and is a lifelong Rangers supporter.

The fact that this was not the case and his high wages soon had Rangers looking elsewhere.

Wouldn't have thought Rangers can offer more than a championship club regarding wages
