I would be in favour of Labour changing the way companies bid for government / public work. For example you can only bid for contracts if you have signed up to Labour "workers rights" plan. That would also include companies having to offer proper apprenticeship schemes. If companies didn't want to do this then don't bid. Whoa

Whoa Not sure I agree with that. All tenders have minimum requirements that the bidders are expected to meet. What is so wrong in stating up front that bidding companies have to pay their staff the Living Wage for instance? Carillion skewed the bidding process by undercutting the more responsible companies. Obviously I haven't thought this through entirely just trying to make the point that Labour could use a carrot rather than stick approach to achieve their aims.
