I think the quote from Jeanette Findlay says it all: "What we have is a culture inside the police service of Scotland which is to treat the fans as thought they are potential criminals or sources of disorder. And so the culture is thinking about and planning for games in that way. "It's not about thinking, here are a group of citizens who are in a crowd situation and we need to keep them safe." ... and it's not just Police Scotland! A stairway to Heaven and a Highway to Hell give some indication of expected traffic numbers

It's not just in the planning though, it's the reactions too. As Preston police showed with their perfectly reasonable reaction to a few Stoke fans wanting a smoke, which was to draw their batons and pepper spray any fan in the vicinity. Optimistic as ever

You can bet there are a lot of non football supporting police personal who just seen us fans all as thugs likely to cause a riot. Suspect that is part of the problem.. No respect for the avragew football fan - just generalisations. Edited by Superhorns3 (05 Sep 2018 10.00am)
