Kelly seems an ok defender, but he never looks comfortable playing out from the back and tends to take the Delaney route more often. With an international break after Saints I imagine we won't risk Tomkins unless he is 100% fit.

Was a bit frustrating against Watford to see our midfield keep giving Kelly the ball in tighter situations where he was clearly uncomfortable.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

It's all about confidence. The act of receiving and giving the ball is basic.

What we always miss when debating this or that player is you do not know what they have been told to do. Kelly was playing long a lot against Swansea, perhaps because he was told to do that by the manager. Iniss was playing it around and actually looked ok on the ball. Who knows what Kelly's instructions were but he went long a lot.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |

But some players are clearly better at receiving the ball in tighter spaces and making decisions. Point is that we can't just swap him in for Tomkins and play exactly the same way.
