I often walk past a place on 29th St in Manhattan which says it's a 'Bangladeshi, Indian, pakistani, African & Arabic' restaurant. They have a mosque in the basement so guessing they want to cover all their bases when there are Friday prayers.....

The diawna down sanderstead was always a favourite, blossom house too, also golden palace in opted. There was one over in selsdon, forget it's name, but this is all a while back... Living in vancouver there is a huge indian population but they seem a whole different toe than what i was used to in the uk and i asked someone and she explained they and herself are from a different region and family that live out in the uk have told her the same thing. Mentality is different too, anyways - point is, the food is similar, but can't hold a torch tot he uk curry houses if that makes sense. Now, having been to mumbai, cochin and columbo and the maldives, the foot is unreal.... but, home is home and the a good curry house always hits the spot. I don’t know if it’s still the case, but large numbers of the ‘early wave’ of local ‘Indian’ restaurants were run by Bangladeshi people and not by Indians. This was explained to me by ‘Steve’, who was the boss of ‘The Star of Bengal’ in Bexleyheath. Edited by YT (30 Aug 2018 8.31am)
