Surely not Charlton? I seem to remember when Curbishley was their manager the media constantly telling Palace fans that Charlton should be our role model for a well run club. Of course the wheels fell off when thy got caught poaching Dowie and it became apparent that the board had feet of clay.

On a serious note I hope the staff get their money as the owner is not short of a few bob.

They were tbf. But the fans got bored and wanted to kick on from 7th - mid table and it all went wrong. So far we’ve only wanted to start the season prepared, out of the relegation zone or rock bottom when we were there unnecessarily and not make the management and squad’s job even harder. We don’t know what the future holds but in the current Prem climate any of 13 can go down so that should and will hopefully keep any dreamers grounded.

Goal Machine would welcome several relegations and a plummet through the leagues if there was a good atmosphere although how there’d be a good atmosphere don’t know.

How did Charlton get to this?

I've been a Palace fan since 71 BUT I have to admit to working part time as a coach in the community for Charlton in the 90s ( couldn't have worked for Millwall, and my alliegence was tolerated) and found them well organised and very efficient. This was the time of Curbs and you could feel the solidity that he had brought to the club and the atmosphere at Eltham. also their Football in The community scheme was the first to CRB their coaches.
