Really?

Murphy top class? The same Murphy who got three caps for Ireland.

Whilst good players and boyhood heros of mine you can't argue they are better than Zaha, Meyer, Luka or Townsend.

Well you were talking midfielders so that rules Zaha and Townsend out right away and Meyer hasn't even pulled the shirt on! Luka and Nicholas would be a toss-up, in my opinion

If, mistakenly, caps are your guide then a reminder that when you say the team of the 80's defence was better only Sansom won any; whilst Hennessey, van Aanholt, Sakho and even Kelly have been awarded the honour

Murphy would not be anywhere near today's team. Agree with Nicholas though.

IMO the squad apart from Wilf is much the same. Wilf key and we all know that. However in Roy we have a canny old war horse who knows how work with youngs guns and seasoned old players. Roy next to Wilfs is are greatest assett IMO.

A really good transfer window with all the places we needed investment covered and in good time too, kept the squad together (bar Cabaye leaving which was unavoidable) inspite interest in a few, and all this on a budget that is restricted by the new stadium, and finally the icing on the cake, wilf commiting to a new contract. I know a few posters that still won’t be happy but in my opinion the board and management have really delIvered this season, can’t see us struggling but if we do I honestly feel they couldn’t have done more. Back slaps all round!

Agreed - although they still need to sort out the toilets in the Arthur Wait..

Cant remember feeling this posative about our team for a long time.

The Zaha deal, win on the first day of the season, unbeaten pre-season, great end to last season, signing of Meyer, new stand on its way.

I feel like I did back in about 88 when you felt we were on the verge of great things.

Then again its Palace so it will probably all go t@ts up!
