It all hangs on keeping Zaha. If he stays then I can see a push for the top 10, if he leaves then it will be a scrap to avoid the drop.

The ups and downs of Palace have left me older than my years

Survival without the stress.

A season of mid-table anonymity whilst the team is molded into Roy's vision of what we should be. Anything else is a bonus.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

As we are at the moment I'd say we will finish 14th to 11th.

If Benteke can shake off his nightmare last season and be the player we know he can. If Meyer is as good as he hopes he is and we bring in a couple more players (one a winger/striker) to give us a bit more of a stronger squad We can break into the top 10 without our regular flirt with relegation.

Expectations for me are split in two.

No injuries we should be aiming top half.

Injuries like last season, we should be aiming for survival.

We have a very good first team, we have little depth outside of it. It all hinges on how many games we can field the majority of our first team.

This is pretty much going to apply to all clubs that don't have owners with unlimited money or are in Europe and will be rotating players. Players like Gueye and Gundogan will accept being outside of top 11 because they will get opportunities and plenty of money. We cannot afford the likes of Bolasie on 85k as impact subs, if fit.

I'd say our depth - given a couple of shrewd loans - will be as good as we've had since we have been back in the PL.
As a reminder, our starting XI for the first game in 2013/4 included Moxey, Gabbidon, Dikgacoi, Garvin, Dobbie and Wilbraham. So you can guess what the quality of 19-25 in the squad was

Mid-table mediocrity is a dead cert.
As boring as hell for some fans but good for the bean-counters/bed-wetters.
Personally i'd like to see us surpass the '0pts in 7games' us go for 8 losses from the off (despite the added workload for our mods!) and march on to glory from there.

Far more interesting

If Wilf stays and our players fulfill their potential it will be top half for sure and maybe top 8 - and I am never this bullish normally!!

Hopes:
1) No goals conceded after the 85th minute.
2) Earn 40 points by April 15th.
3) Wilf plays all 38 PL games.
4) Roy signs for 2 more years, identifies a worthy successor.
5) No starters lose more than a fortnight to one injury.
6) Finish in top 8.

Expectations:
1) Earn 40 points by May 1st.
2) Wilf scores 4 goals by end of August.
3) Benteke scores 3 goals by end of September.
4) Finish in top 13.

I’d be disappointed if we didn’t win the league and cup double.
