Due to some issues which ultimately boil down to money, Virgin will cease carrying the following channels as from tomorrow (Sunday):

Watch
Dave
Alibi
Really
Drama
Good Food
Home
Yesterday
Eden
Gold

Will they even be missed? Personally, I find them almost unwatchable due to the frequency and length of the commercial breaks and, especially in the case of Gold, the ad nauseam repetition of Fawlty Towers, OFAH and others. I also suspect that Virgin will be replacing these channels with even worse lowest common denominator bollocks.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I record everything so that I can fast forward over the ad breaks

Lowest common denominator bollox?

Fawlty Towers And Only Fools are high brow compared to itv.

Maybe a channel with Miranda and other repetitive comedy shows will surface.

US TV went through a golden age.....but it's started to fade...I reckon partly due to the shoe horned feminism forced into it.

However, the state of TV in Britain is dire and has been for a long time....well I stopped watching a couple of years ago.

The recent verbal exchange between John Cleese and that BBC man over Python reveals where a certain amount of the problem is.

This country use to be funny.....not much new talent breaking through with mass appeal.

You have to be kidding?

Many of us have detected the feminism in the last two series......up till then....it was pretty fantastic.

Virgin have a history of doing this. I was a subscriber but gave it up as too expensive. What annoyed mean at the time was there were channels available on Freeview that Virgin would not carry. Like most people I tend to watch my TV through a single portal in this case Virgin. Whilst I could switch to Freeview you could not record those channels on the Virgin hard drive. If it was a subscriber channel I could understand but these were free to air channels.

As for the channels removed to be honest I don't watch them because they repeat the same things ad nauseum.

I switched to BT who had a spat with Sky for years so would not show the full Sky package. Apparently peace has now broken out and we should be getting this by the end of the year.

This is the problem with TV today it has become so fragmented that each rights holder jealously guards their unique programming.
