5 million is FC Valencia's asking price.

I know many of you will not agree because he has a reputation of bad behaviour, but it's 5 million for one of the most creative attacking players in the world.

Nani is very close to Zaha levels of quality and will still be so for at least 2 more years, he is very fit. Was underused in Lazio, but always did something when he came on. Good in Valencia and Sporting. Still one of the best assisters EVER in the Premier League, though he didn't play that much here.

If his wages ain't high then he's a good option for the bench.

He’s not as old as I thought he was, but I can’t see it happening.

Why not? Unless you consider him a disruptive influence in the locker room, like Spiderman said ( which I think is a complete exaggeration for a player like Nani who is hard working, whom I never remember stirring up problems and who even accepted the Lazio's manager decision of keeping him a substitute most of last season), then it should be relatively easy.

He gave a social media thumbs up to a Fenerbahce proposed move!! If he's willing to go to Turkey, he'd surely want to play in the EPL. His salary is not that huge.

We know he's willing to play in Turkey; he went from Man U to Fenerbahce.

Just to make a comparison between Nani and other wingers playing in the Premier League, top leagues or for national teams (just in the last 2 years, not going back longer than that):

Nani- 11goals and 13 assists in 3500 minutes for Valencia, Lazio and the Portuguese national team. Maybe their best player at Euro 2016, when they won.

[Link]

Cost: 5 million.

Townsend- 5 goals and 15assists in 5700 minutes in the PL

Cost: around 20 million.

Bolasie- 2 goals and 4 assists in 1900 minutes (hit by injury too)

Cost: unknown after the injury, reportedly very low.

Zaha-17 goals and 17 assists in 6100 minutes in the PL and for the Ivory Coast NT

Cost: around 60 million.

Kennedy-2 goals and 2 assists in 1100 minutes for Chelsea and Newcastle

Cost: around 20 million (!!, he really has hardly played at top level!)

Willian- 19 goals and 22 assists in 5500 minutes for Chelsea in the PL, the CL and for the Brazil national team.

Cost: around 70 million.

Carrasco- 20 goals and 12 assists in 6200 minutes for Atletico Madrid and the Belgium national team before moving to China (as what he does there is not really relevant for high level).

Cost: around 30 million.

Cuadrado- 10 goals and 21 assists in 6300 minutes for Juventus and the Colombia national team.

Cost: around 35 million.

Douglas Costa- 4 goals and 15 assists in 2700 minutes for Juventus and the Brazil national team.

Cost: around 40 million.

A bit unjust for Nani to not still be considered by big teams. He is just as good as many on the above list and 5 million for him is a very low figure. No top 6 team will go for him, fighting it off with Sporting and Fenerbahce should not be that hard when you offer him Premier League football. He'd waltz right into the Palace team. Imagine a team with Zaha, Nani and Townsend behind a center forward. I can imagine a big improvement in the Premier League position at the end of the year.

While on paper that might sound like an enticing proposition in reality I believe it would be a recipe for disaster.

Yes going forward Nani could offer us a lot but one thing I do not associate with him is tracking back and the defensive side of his game. Both Zaha and Townsend have improved greatly in this aspect of their game and unless Nani was willing to show the same discipline I think he'd be a liability.

Nani tracks back a lot. From all the forwards or attacking midfielders in today's football, Nani is among the ones who track down the most. Search any youtube video you want of him, you'll notice this. He's built in the English football. He was very similar to Valencia when he was at United. Nani tracks back a lot more than players like Ozil, Neymar, Shaqiri, even Willian or Sterling. He is very similar to Zaha, Mandzukic or Cristiano Ronaldo in his movement.

I don’t know whether he is a disruptive influence or not. I just don’t get the feeling he is fitting the Mould of what we are looking for, nor that we fit the Mould of what he is looking for. I could be wrong, I don’t have any particular basis for it, I just think that I could get better odds for him not joining than I could for him joining.

I am afraid that it is not very illuminating, but it has been a long and hot day.
