The BBC expert commentators, who we cannot live without, were criticising Pickford for diving to his right and sticking his left hand up in the air. He did that in the shootout too, he is actually not very bright and just got incredibly lucky, once. Lady luck smiling on us (a welcome change).

who remember Shilton, one of the finest keepers of his generation, totally cocked up the pens in Italia 90 ! waiting to the last minute to dive and never got close to a single one !

So glad we saved and rested our best players for tonight's game ... just imagine what a bigger heap of $hite it would have been if we hadn't! I knew people were going to be desperate to fire this out if we lost yesterday, but we won and you're still trying to shoehorn it in - impressive. France, Belgium and England all rotated for the final group game and all are in the quarters. Right decision.

What I did notice from the Colombia game: For the Colombian equaliser, our defender Trippier was positioned correctly, yes on the goal line, Pulis must be around. An international first for England. Made no difference as it went in anyway! He was excellent, have to get him some heels for time added on though.

Our defence is shocking with Harry McGuire in it, the bloke can’t defend at International level. Our weak link. Was a candidate for MOTM. Played Great.

Is the whole "McGuire" thing some kind of HOL in-joke? Like Tompkins?

Pickford, Stones, Maguire, Kane all superb. Would play Rashford instead of Alli and sit Sterling where Alli was playing
