Can anyone explain where the dosh goes.
Is it for wages ? or general running of the club.
If its for buying players that would be farsical as it would only lead to higher transfer fees.
The Stadium upgrade surely is from the Overseas investors, or have I got this all completely wrong.
I may be 12,000 miles away and upside down, but it would be nice to know its not getting wasted.

Yes wages and transfer fees mostly. The agents tend to make commission on all of these transactions so it gets a little more inflated. Our wage bill for 16/17 was approximately 80 million. I think it'll be closer to the 90 mark for this season. That's clearly the lion's share of the TV money gone.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

You are wrong: wages in the 2015-2016 season were already 82m. being 79 percent of a turnover of just over 100m.

Guess this clearly answers the ops question though. It is mainly wages indeed.

Sorry, I tried adding a link to the CPFC 2010 accounts for 15/16 (the latest ones published, as discussed in another thread) but I failed miserably.

Search for ‘Companies House Beta Service’

Then search for ‘CPFC 2010’

Then ‘Filing History’ and scroll down to the 2016 accounts.

The highest expenditure in any business must be wages and add on bonuses etc.
There can't be many that spend more on anything else so football clubs are businesses and share the same operational challenges.

Are you try to suggest football is like a normal business? I don’t know of any other business, where wages are 80%+ of total revenue. I would suggest an average wage bill of 20% of turnover in most businesses.
So therefore football clubs don’t have the same operational challenges.

Well in my business Wages run at around 70-80% of turnover and that's rife throughout the industry. In most businesses I have been involved the wage layout is always 50% plus...
so if you can nip over and get my wage bill down to 20% you would make me a millionaire in a year....

Not often I reply these days, more of a reader but your post did make me chuckle and I am sure in many ways and places you may be correct but I certainly doubt that thats the case in the football industry. Mercenary players and agents gettting every penny they can and making Hay whilst the sun shines.

onwards and upwards, live everyday as if its ya last
