Thanks for setting this up :-) No worries, thank you for taking part! I believe all the entries need to be in by 4pm on Thursday, so if anyone else would like to join please try to do so as soon as possible to avoid missing out. There's no limit to the number of entrants, so feel free to invite your friends along too. Would be great to see a few more and all are welcome. A big thank you to all who have joined so far, and I hope you all enjoy the tournament!

After what has been a truly memorable World Cup tournament, the Dream Team World Cup fantasy league has reached its exciting climax. The league of 10 teams - Fantasy Is For All World Cup 2018 - saw Red and Blueski storm into a strong early lead in the group stages, opening up a sizeable 29 point gap after the first week over Danny's Champions of the World in second place. World Cup Wanderers, WC Nothing to Lose and Dougs Eagles were in hot pursuit, while the remaining five teams were still in touching distance. Day 10 was a very successful one for Dougs Eagles, who scored a magnificent 44 points in one day, narrowing the points gap between fourth and third from 38 to only 5. There was still plenty to play for though, with over half the duration of the tournament left to play. And then, it happened. Day 11. The day on which England smashed Panama 6-1 - and a day that saw World Cup Wanderers, boasting a lineup that included Harry Kane, Jesse Lingard and even John Stones, score a massive 53 points to leapfrog into a 13 point lead. This was further compounded by an impressive 21 point haul the following day, when the next three teams in the league somehow failed to register more than a single point. The campaign looked to be over as a contest with World Cup Wanderers' lead of 37 points growing to 40 by the end of the second week. Nonetheless, the chasing pack continued undaunted, with Sick As Perrott making particularly good progress in the latter stages of the tournament, coming from nowhere to make it as high as third place by Day 18. Nobody was giving up, and with some big-hitters falling by the wayside in the World Cup tournament itself there was still ample opportunity to make a late bid for glory in the fantasy league. In the closing stages, while busy transfer acitvity and varying player performances had seen World Cup Wanderers' lead cut to fewer than 20 points, there was now some clear daylight between the top three and the rest with Danny's Champions of the World and Dougs Eagles in second and third respectively. Tension began to mount all the more on the penultimate day during the third place match, as Eden Hazard's 82nd minute strike in Belgium's 2-0 victory over England saw the league take a dramatic turn. The result meant that World Cup Wanderers had finally been overtaken by Danny's Champions of the World with only the World Cup final left to play! The final day of the World Cup started with Danny's Champions of the World in the lead on 320 points, narrowly ahead of World Cup Wanderers on 318 and Dougs Eagles a further 14 points behind on 304. It looked as though the title would surely go to one of the top two. After the final whistle blew on Sunday evening and the tournament drew to a close, World Cup Wanderers picked up a further 7 points for a grand total of 325 while Danny's Champions of the World scored another 14 to finish on 334 points - but there was one final twist in store. With a lineup including both Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann, Dougs Eagles scored a tremendous 31 points in the deciding match on the final day to secure a grand total of 335, coming from third to snatch the title by a single point! A fantastic performance throughout from Dougs Eagles who, though always in the hunt from the start never actually led the league until the very end, timing a deadly strike for victory to perfection to claim the title by a nose. It just goes to show, never give up, it ain't over until the proverbial fat lady does her thing. Commiserations to those of you who didn't win, but gave it a good go anyway. You all played your part in making the past 25 days all the more fun and exciting. And please spare a thought for the manager of Danny's Champions of the World, who came second by a solitary point right at the death. I have it on good authority that, as all runners-up seem to be nowadays, he is absolutely gutted! Thanks to all of you who took part, and congratulations to the Fantasy Is For All World Cup 2018 winning team, Dougs Eagles! Bring on Qatar 2022!

No worries, glad you still had fun! I didn't realise you could make transfers each day until a few days after it had started. I'm sure they were only allowed after each round of matches in the last World Cup one I was in, and thought it would work the same way this time. So I made none for a while, then too many, then didn't have enough left to use later on. Still had a couple of Germans knocking about at the end! Excellent effort, love your enthusiasm. Thanks very much for playing.
