I think the question that should be asked is “we will ever defeat terrorism”. However hypocritical or honest your interpretation of what terrorism is will provide a myriad of answers. There will always be perverse ideologies. The source of these ideologies aren’t confined between races, religions or classes. Dangerous ideologies usually breed the potential for terrorism, and they exist all over the place. The answer to whether or not we will actually defeat terrorism period is dependant on whether or not we’re big enough to take a look in the mirror. Anything is possible where there is a strong enough will, but we first must acknowledge our own acts of terrorism, and stop participating in them. Until that time comes, terrorist attacks will occur habitualy and all over the world. And terror starting from the West will almost certainly be the most damaging. Edited by Mstrobez (10 Jun 2018 3.52am) The overwhelming statistic reality is that the vast majority of terrorism around the world is carried out by the adherents of one religion. We obviously know that the majority of Muslims just don't support this. I don't think it helps to muddy the waters with expanding out the definition of terrorism to include the actions of states you don't like or agree with. At the very least you would need to be explicit in making your case for this. Edited by Stirlingsays (10 Jun 2018 7.58am)

What I worry about is when they figure out how to avoid being caught.....what was it? 12 broken up attack plans in the last year? It's probably like the gun debate in the US....too far gone to remedy. The politicians gave you this. Sorry to jump across threads but this is a well rounded and reasoned post by you on this subject.

There is no doubt that there are supporters of Robinson who go too far. I don't support violence against people because of their religion. That's societal breakdown and we need to avoid that because innocent people frequently end up getting hurt. Essentially what was Robinson doing before he was arrested and jailed? Before the hornet's nest was stirred? He was highlighting the excesses of Islam and the rapes of thousands of girls which has been downplayed by the state.......who are negligent in the enabling of these rapes. There are wider questions about birth demographics and what the nature of a country is or what we should want or advocate. I'm willing to have those conversations but everything gets mired in overly reactive language. Edited by Stirlingsays (10 Jun 2018 10.47am)

What if the extended family of a terrorist murderer got their dole /benefits severely curtailed ? And or were put on compulsory 'back to work ' schemes ? Higher income taxes too. Money talks You wanna suicide yourself ( and kill kids ) in the guaranteed knowledge of bringing much hardship to all your relatives. Terrorists live among the community , let the community flex some muscle. Edited by PalazioVecchio (10 Jun 2018 9.04pm)

Radical Islamic terrorism is a tool, not an enemy, of Power in the "developed" world.

Edited by Stirlingsays (11 Jun 2018 2.31am) There are so, so many of them you'd be better off (and substantially richer too) reading his large body of work and then publishing a tome where you can refute it all, with counter evidence. I'm sure there would be a market for it!

I'm sure there would be a market for it! Well fair enough.....I know how much of a pain in the arse it is when someone asks you to do this kind of thing. Still, if you decide you want to go through these ideas one by one, I'm willing to do it....If and when you might wish to I disagree with Chomsky and plenty do but I can see that he's well meaning. But as they say....the road to hell is paved...and so forth. Edited by Stirlingsays (11 Jun 2018 7.15pm)
