Germany did fine before mass immigration and didn’t need colonialism to win World Cups. Neither did Italy or Spain more recently.

France need or benefit from African-French players because Rugby is the national sport and not football. But please don’t say European football or international teams are being propped up by African immigrants because that’s rubbish.

Croatia were really good apart from the first half v England and ironically a team full of ‘slavs’ Hitler would’ve preferred.

Your opinion is rubbish because Spain or Italy or Germany will win the World Cup again with an all white team. I don’t care but it’s true.

Rather ironic don't you think that a country who prefer to play rugby rather than football can win a football world cup but are an also ran in their preferred sport.

Because rugby in France has suffered similarly to our football Premier League with imported players ready to perform.

Well it's caught up to most of them. Italy and the Netherlands didn't qualify, Germany went out in the group stage and Spain in the round of 16. Better get a wider net to attract top class players for these countries. PS, one of the reason the USA didn't qualify was alienating youth development programs geared towards Central and South American immigrant players. A great prospect just slipped through our hands and is with Mexico.

The failings of top teams has absolutely s0d all to do with their lack of black African players that France have. My sides are splitting from laughing.

I understand that they’ve slipped down the rankings in French Cricket too.

At a time when the gap between the top European / South American sides and the rest seems to be getting smaller, the African nations at the World cup did pretty poorly.

Pretty silly to think that race has much to do with any of this.

Really? Only one team outside of Europe/Latin America made it out of the group stage - japan. And they went out in the next game. The semis were an all-European affair. I would say European (and to a lesser degree Latin American) dominance continues.

Germany haven't had an all-white team for some time, and won't again, though it's relatively few players. The point on all-white Italian/Spanish teams stands, there have only been one or 2 black players there. But I think with the way the world is, I don't think any of them are going to have all-white teams for ever.

I said 'top' European/South American teams. The gap between the traditional football superpowers and the rest is getting smaller.

Considering there'd never been a World Cup final without Germany, Spain, Italy, Brazil or Argentina, something's changing.

The simple point I’m making is those who embrace diversity in their player pool, like France & lately England, have success. Those who don’t, like the USA Men, with their “country club” attitude, tend to fail.

The main failure of the USMNT is the fact that the best US prospects tend to want to play in leagues deemed competitive unlike the MLS which has no promotion or relegation & is mainly a foil for NFL owners to get rich.
The whole MLS needs realigning from moving the season so that it's more in tune with the game world wide, the 'old' ah but the weather argument doesn't wash with me when they can still play it in Russia in the depths of winter. Also they need to implement Pro/Rel to create real competition something the current format fails to do

That's one part of the problem. Another is US Soccer's stubborn refusal to embrace inner city development programs which are geared towards both the African American and especially the Latino community. The case of Jonathan Gonzales is a case in point.

I'd also recommend Roger Bennett's excellent podcast series "American Fiasco," which tells of the comedy of errors that led to our last place finish in the 1998 World Cup. We look for players in places like Germany,Holland & France when there are literally hundreds if not thousands of great local youth development organizations that US Soccer ignores because they don't like the "color" of them. This country, as people like Taylor Twellman, Kyle Martino and Eric Wynalda spotlighted, is wedded to the country club and pay to play to the exclusion of urban areas. We'd rather have a player from Europe with an American father than a player who grew up here but whose name is far from being Anglo. Yes, I am calling US Soccer passively racist in its player development. Even Bruce Arena says so in his book, "What's Wrong With US?"

Croatia and Iceland are having the most success they've ever had. Neither are diverse, at all.

I think it's more to do with building a team from the top down, than how diverse the bunch is or isn't.
