Both cant get regular starts in their teams and both only saw last 10 mins of the cup final.
As attacking midfielders with great flare either would would make more than a replacement for Cabaye and they would be guaranteed 90 minutes each game.
The wages might be an issue, I think they are £140k and £120k a week but SP should realise that if you want to progress you have to make a statement. We did it with Lombardo - why not Mata? He is 30 now but should have a couple of decent years left in him.

Gotta suspect bigger clubs would be after them both, even Mata @
30, if they’re on the way out. Big fan of both of them but can’t see it happening.

Willian & Wilf in the same starting XI would be a mouthwatering prospect. But I think he’ll still be firmly in Chelsea’s plans. He’s actually a very underrated player and borders world class at his best. If Conte goes and they revert back to 4 @ the back, they’ll almost certainly have a place for him m. If Conte stays, I’m guessing it’ll be under the condition that they don’t start selling important members of their squad like they did last year.

I remember when we were first linked with Cabaye and I was quick to reassure everyone it wouldn’t happen - so you never know. But just can’t see it myself.

Mata has signed a new contract. He accepts his backup role at his age under Mourinho.

The Willian suggestion is the craziest I have ever seen on this site. That guy has had a monumental season in the Champions League, he's one of the 30 best football players in the world this year.

Mattteo came out with Patrick Bamford as a suggestion the other day.

fair point well made... I do agree with the OP though in that even if we don't get the type of players such as Fabregas or Mata at the moment...we'd at least be showing ambition and that we mean business...then sooner or later these are just the types of players who WILL come to us.

As for Willian...he's too far out of reach for us at the moment

Totally agree although I believe Cesc is an unsettling influence in the dressing room, not what we want.

Willian doesn't want to stay at Chelsea if Conte stays.
In fact Willian has covered up Conte's face with FA Cup Emojis in the celebration picture !

I saw that. Quite funny.

My money would be on Willian being there and Conte not.

For me Willian is one of the best players in the prem.

I'd buy them both in a heartbeat but to may as well suggest Ronaldo and Bale, because the aren't gonna come here.

Nice thought though, especially Willian.

Wilian got about 7 minutes in the cup final. And he has had been a sub a lot for Chelsea this season. The guy must be thinking WTF??
Maybe it is unrealistic to suggest him, but for me he is the player who is most like Wilfred. The two of them would reek havoc wherever they went.
But we need to get and pay for a proper experienced attacking midfielder with distribution skills to take over from Cabaye and that is going to cost us money and by that I mean £100k+ a week. We can do it as well, you just need to lose some of the hanger-ons to free up the cash.
