How can they rate Mawson at £20m? He's 24, has no full caps and has had just two seasons in the PL, one of which ended in relegation.

Don’t see us spending anywhere near £20m on a back up centre half! I agree I don’t think he’s anywhere near Tomkins or Sakho and no better than Kelly or Dann!

I disagree that he's no better than Kelly (but that's just my opinion) and Dann is over 30 with a serious ACL injury to come back from so I think we need some defensive cover. As for Swansea getting relegated, it was their inability to score rather than their defence that cost them - they had a meaner record than Bournemouth, Huddersfield, West ham, Leicester, Watford & Everton. Whether or not he would represent value for money for us is another matter but I'll wager he ends up back in the Premier League next season one way or another.

I am of the same opinion. i am also of the same opinion , dann is a great player and a legend , but i do believe his better days are behind him , he had lost a yard or two of pace before the injury and the injury will not make hm any faster . i think fabianski is a great keeper and would be first choice when he proved himself but at 33 years old he would only be a 3 year contract , alfie mawson i reckon would be a very good investment and at 24 years old a no brainer , but hey thats just my opinion .
