My "Reggie" moment was 4 years ago while I was working for HSS hire.I was a day short of a 6 month probationary contract. It was a hot summers day and I had an emergency delivery of portable generators for Tesco Direct at their depot in Aylesford, as the electric to their cold storage room had stopped working. I had never been there before and drove into their yard to the service and maintenance area, pulled up,got out of van, walked through the garage forecourt and into an office. Said "Afternoon gents ,I have some generators on board..." But before I could finish, one of the gents started to shout "You're not meant to wallk in through the garage. There's a door to the side of the office for pedestrians stupid!". "Oh" I replied and preceded to walk out the way I came in,made my way 'round to the side door of the office and started again." Afternoon gents...." etc but this time added on that the emergency delivery would in fact be going back with me to the HSS depot and that they would have to re-arrange another delivery. Said 'gent ' was up in arms, ranting and raving. My retort was "If you talk to me like an asshole then I'm gonna act like an asshole!". Went back to base and handed in my notice. Ollie's Dad,Ash.

Mental health.
You spend a lot of your life at work, and it can impact your personality and home-life (in positive and negative ways).

Make sure any decisions the OP makes is considered, and in the OP's best interest.
Do not be driven by emotion, or spurious testosterone/depression surges.

stay strong. I am only local if the OP fancies a chat or beer

I disengage, I turn the page.

thank you hillbilly - the troubling thing with all this stuff, this work marriage normality thing which I've never been sold on, the danger is you convince yourself you'll deal with a few difficulties and there may be signs things are improving (e.g. the boss may be leaving, the missus admits she needs to go on a diet etc) but then at another time you see these moments of hope as mere troughs in a tsunami of sh*te and another wave of horror is about to crush you once again. I have a Plan B, a real one, an exciting opportunity I have forged which may go nowhere but it will be fun trying to make it work, and that it was what I must concentrate my energies on - I might even go into more details this summer over a beer.
