Well the furor over the alleged gas attack has died down and we are back to not giving two fcks to how the Syrians die.

Here are two articles from Media Lens

Douma: Part 2 - 'It Just Doesn't Ring True'

Probably true for most people. It would seem that the multiple rival, tribal factions in the middle east have now taken over from the former front-page, yet still continuing, African tribal slaughter of each other's peoples.

Seems like most of these countries are going through their own 'Middle Ages' only with far more advanced weaponry.

Right on Becky.
More than a coincidence that Christianity is 500 years older than islam.
Seems your middle ages reference fits with that.
500 years ago we as the Christian west were doing it with swords and bows. And the warped beliefs that only one system and religion was the correct one.

Why would the Syrians, with victory only days away and not in any shadow of doubt, do anything to put that at risk?

Of course they didn't do it. All a total con-job by the Gulf/NATO sponsored fifth column aka The White Helmets.

Well yeah.....but that vote was lost in the commons a long time ago....nothing major is going to be done.

It's just sour milk now.

Yeah, and why did Hitler need to gas the Jews when it took troops and resources when fighting a war on two fronts.

Saying that individual war decisions by evil b******s is predictable is shot full of holes.

For example, how do you know that he hasn't used chemical attacks previously in the weeks leading up to this and not been found out? If we play the game of saying the attack was real surely the only reason this has been discoverred is due to the number of deaths.

Another problem with your assumptions is this idea that....oh we will not use chemical weapons because we are winning ......Are you serious!, the troops on the ground are going to take deaths and there is you saying.....better do that mate because we might upset Trump if we clear them out quicker. When they know from his comments he is leaving Syria. And he is still leaving Syria.

Also, every day this war continues Assad is costing the Russians and Iran money.....you don't know what the chatter is between them. What their attitude is towards these things....Nor do you know how long this war is going to run on for....Nor do you know how stable the territory Assad has won is.....As soon as Russian and Iran go it might all fall apart for him.

I'm willing to accept that there might be some doubt as to whether this is a real attack or not but I get annoyed by people who actually haven't a clue professing that they know....because insert reason that really.....really has sod all to do with what's going on.

We don't know.....that's about it.

This line of thought is reasonable, to be fair.

I wonder how many posters / people at large think "well, we can't be sure...." when they absorb the latest bit of propaganda thrown their way and how many swallow it hook, line & sinker without a second thought.....

That would take us down the road of successive governments working to diminish the role of critical thinking in education, instead championing regurgitation of the approved facts.....not sure anyone's got the stamina or time on such a lovely day for that one!
