I was listening to the Friday Football Social with Jermaine Jenas and Don Hutchison (amongst others) and following Ruben Neves' incredible goal the subject of the greatest player ever to play in the Championship came up. A lot of names were suggested, even if only for form in a single season. Adel Taraabt My first thought was Attilio Lombardo and Wilf. I never really got to see Lombardo but we had that spell around new year when Zaha, Murray and Bolassi were incredible. I'm sure there are loads of up and coming players or players loyal to relegated sides who have lit up the division. What do you think..?

Paul Merson when he played for Portsmouth was the puppet master. When they played us he just ran the game best player on the pitch. I might be getting dewy eyed but I think we applauded him off. Spoke to supporters of other clubs that season who said the same thing.

and also Chris Waddle I think it was Sheffield Wednesday at the end of career came and played liked the ball was glued to his foot and he just stroked it around all game. Reminded me of George Graham (Arsenal) who had the nickname "Stroller".

Seem to remember Merson had some banter with the crowd in the main stand a la his gambling probs and he turned and laughed back at the insult thown at him. Was funny at the time but I guess uou needed to be there.
