Agreed. But a team of largely championship players, playing with focus and commitment under good tactical instruction, can become a Premiership level team. See Burnley. Sum of the parts and all that.

From what i've seen of Sorloth he looks ok. A big, physical CF with decent pace. Nothing special frankly, and i'm unconvinced we couldn't have found similar in the Football League.

Yes, that is a good point. I think that all of the sides outside the top six or seven have to find a way of melding Championship Quality players into a Premiership Quality team.

The fact of the matter is that we can’t afford to buy a squad of proven Premiership Quality players, which is why we need to think of So called Championship Quality players as an important part of the team and not as some sort of slur.

It is also an example of how the manager is so important. Which comes back to my point earlier in the thread regarding the importance of holding on to Roy for another season at least.

I'd pick someone like Townsend or Tomkins.

But more to the point, how anyone can instantly really categorize a player who's been thrown into a league 2 or 3 tiers above their previous playing level -- and was basically in a kind of pre season -- is beyond me.

Nobody knows what Sorloth can achieve.

Agree. He's played 4 games for us and those were against Everton, spurs, manure and Chelsea. Hardly a fair sample to be making definitive judgements on.

Scanning down the thread, one thing that has been left out is the player's desire to play in the Premier League itself.

Last season I had the chance to meet a recently departed Palace legend, who plays for his country during our chat I said, I hoped to see him back in the Prem.

His reply surprised me.

He didn't want to, he enjoyed his football more where he was, as the pressure on each game, the training and the fitness regime were nowhere near as intense.

Scanning down this thread myself I find that my question to start it was never answered. I only asked about his injury not his ability. Although I will say he seems far more difficult to knock of the ball that Benteke.

Your question to start was answered in the very next post. I don't think anyone knows any more.
