One thing that's often not realised about such instruments as the European Convention on Human Rights and the Equalities Act 2010 is that: if A offends B through one of the protected characteristics (disability, say), and B is not offended, but C is, the Convention is still broken and an offence is still committed under the Act.

in a lot of the multiverses he insisted do exist he will still be alive so it's not all bad news, he may be explaining black holes to Jim Bowen and Ken Dodd while you are reading this, and you might be dead, and me too for that matter

May I suggest Harking's book of short essays "Black Holes and baby universes"
[Link]

This is a compilation of immensely readable short chapters, covering basic principles of his theories, and existing concepts with also some insight into his personal life

Excellent book, if hard to read, like most of his stuff...even if it's aimed at the masses....and becoming of such a high flying intellect.

A monumental loss to the scientific community.
He did achieve a lifetime goal of experiencing Zero G something I will forever be envious of.

You still can't read. I wrote, not said, "is and insult to him". i.e. disrespectful. That has no relevance on whether he would be offended or not.

You're the moron actually it would seem. Cumberbatch said the following yesterday:

“I feel so lucky to have known such a truly great man whose profundity was found both in his work and the communication of that work,” said Cumberbatch. “Both in person and in books. My heartfelt love and condolences to all his family and colleagues.”

and

“I will miss our margaritas but will raise one to the stars to celebrate your life and the light of understanding you shone so brightly on them for the rest of us,” he explained. “You were and are a true inspiration for me and for millions around the world. Thank you.”

Think for yourself, or try. At the very least try not to lie. Ta.

Cumberbatch added: “His support of the sciences, art, education and the NHS and charities such as the MND foundation will also live on, as will his wickedly funny sense of humour.

Quote above and article linked. Try researching properly for yourself before accusing people of lying.

Did you type that on one of Hawking's speech machines.

He still hasn't tried to politicise it, he's mentioned several things about him amongst the NHS. Also note the "he added" part.

Optimistic as ever

My quote was: "Benedict Cumberbatch also mentioned his advocacy for the NHS in a statement today. Perhaps you should go and attack him on twitter for mentioning it."

You took me to task over it, then accused me of lying about it.

I've now proven that he did "mention it". Whether or not a journalist used the phrase "he added" to point out he didn't say it first is irrelevant and a sign of you clutching at straws to try and justify your error.

The NHS is inherently political. My lamenting his loss of an advocate for it on here has invoked your political response. If you didn't want to engage you should have just ignored it rather than making errors and ad hominem attacks

Not in reply to me it wasn't. You used that to deflect away from whom you know I was referring to.

"Which moron is that? Benedict Cumberbatch?"

I haven't written that no one else mentioned the NHS, I wrote "only you and the moron you worship have seen fit to try and politicise his death".

The NHS isn't political. It's used as such by the likes of you. Using emotive phrases like "Save the NHS", when it's not at risk of going anywhere.

If you want to engage about the NHS make a thread about it, instead of taking over another.

'The NHS is inherently political'

No it isn't.

People like you make it political. The service itself is apolitical.

Cumberbatch mentioned no politics in his comment....you however did with your NHS comments expanding into political points. This sullied a remembrance thread with petty political irritations and you have been digging the hole ever since.

I say again....aren't there enough political threads to fight these battles on?
