There were lots of positives from the game last night, a much better performance than against Spurs. I'm now looking forward to going to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

I don't expect us to win but if we can put in another battling performance then there will be a chance.

We do need to win against one of the top teams as we probably wont win all of the games we are expected to win against the lower teams.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

I admire all the 'didn't we do well' sentiments this morning but twice now we have been caught out by a last minute goal.

Sure Benteke had a decent game....but he should do. He is a highly paid cery expensive asset! Equally aside from one fantastic header he is not consistantly drlvering the goods up front.

But thats not my gripe. It's that we have a paper thin squad which is possibly why we get so many injuries. We can't expect warriors to give it all week in week out and not get crocked. What other club has to turn to a 20 year old novice in defence when we are in a dog fight?

So I would argue our recruitment does leave something to be desired. We don't have good transfee windows.

Oh and some one on here saying 'at least we don't have foreign owners......'

Seriously???? For all the good SP has done for the club, the recruitment has been a absolute joke.

Have to agree.
Went to buy a pint upstairs in the Holmesdale before the game. Told the bloke 3 times what I wanted, he went and spoke to someone else , who came over to me and said “what is it you want? He doesn’t speak English”. True story.
How can you get a job when you can’t speak English in the interview.
Probably a Freedman signing.

I know that hurt...a lot. But the fact is we have, with a patched up team, taking on two of the best teams arguably in Europe, let alone England and only narrowly lost to both. With out players fit and firing we will pick up more points once these tough games are over.

And Wan-Bissaka! We've got a potential gem there.

Absolutely gutted last night but Yes I agree. Was not expecting that performance from the boys. With Wilf back we have a chance for sure. But.. we HAVE to find a way of taking points. We cannot survive off 'we deserved more'.

Was it Erdal Rakip?

Yes there are 9 games left. But against some tough opponents. Unless we get our best players back soon, we will slip behind and be unable to recover and be relegated.
Yes there were some good performances last night. But other teams are winning and we are not. True just 2 wins can move you up fast as Swansea have found.
I still don’t understand why Roy doesn’t use all his subs. If he doesn’t trust them then put some youngsters on the bench. The team were tired and needed fresh legs. Poor decisions in the transfer market means we don’t have the depth to cover injuries.
Finding hard to be positive this morning.

Danny Murphy asked as much on the BBC live text during the match. He maybe doesn't know too well what we had on the bench but he could obviously see that some of our players were tiring. I did think, with the benefit of hindsight, that Roy could have bought on two fresh pairs of legs in those dying minutes just to shore up the midfield/defence at 2-2. It was highly unlikely that we were going to score at that point late in the game and we have often seen top flight teams bringing on subs in the final minutes just to disrupt play and help run the clock down. Maybe we could have taken Sorloth and Townsend off (both looked knackered) and brought on a combination of either Delaney/Jach/Souare or even Rakip just to really park the bus?

Roy knew exactly who he had on the bench. He brought on Riedewald and left it at that. Even with hindsight, I doubt he would have gone with Delaney/Jach/Souare. They were on the bench in case of injuries and since there were none they stayed there.

Best game I've seen Benteke play in for a long long time, showed passion, great workrate and a quality assist, if he can do that every game we should be fine.

He is enjoying his football again - hope he takes his goals scored to eleven by end of season.

you think hes gonna score 9 more goals?? Really?

According to data over the seasons, we don't need to win 4 of our last games as stated by a previous poster. 10 points will probably be enough, 3 wins plus a draw or two should do it. The spirit is there, Roy's wisdom is there and it's not unreasonable to believe the injury list is shrinking.

Basic tactics at the end of a game when the other team are all over you, I'm amazed Hodgson didn't mix it up a bit to disrupt Manure's flow.
