I'd consider myself a pretty devout Christian, although possibly slightly more liberal now than I've been in the past. I don't reeeeally appreciate being called weak of mind or a gullible mug.

Sweeping statement I'll admit, but I do kind of stand by it, in as much as anyone who believes in a talking snake, the absence of dinosaurs, all men came from one and that some omnipresent cloud monkey is responsible for all of the known (and unknown) universe, must be at least, a little bit gullible, and at worst downright stupid. But It wasn't a personnel attack, more a generalisation aimed at the Hick town residents of the bible belt in Mericaa

I'd actually venture to say with all the things going on in the world, it takes a lot more strength to believe in God than not. And to be a Christian in today's world, with the perpetual ridicule from people much like you. Takes a lot of strength and resolve.

So if there is a God, why is there such a high infant mortality rate in African Countries ? eye cancer in children, war and terror etc etc, surely such a being would lay waste to those type of things. But there are those who despite all this believe we should still praise and give thanks to a God that allows all the ills of the world to happen. I wouldn't say I'm ridiculing you either, I am pointing out that rather than it taking strength to believe in God and Christianity during these testing times, I believe it takes more strength to admit that mankind has made all his troubles, and that mankind and only mankind can bale himself out of the pig s*** pile we have turned earth into, NOT the aforementioned cloud monkey.

To me, weak of mind is just accepting what we see, without exploring any deeper. And weak characters take the path of least resistance, which in today's age, is the 'there's no god, live for the now, look out for number one' attitude towards life.

There's that Christian attitude that started the thread in the first place, like your in some way superior to others because of what you believe. Just because I happen to believe something different to you doesn't make me of less worth as human than you, in fact I'm pretty sure the bible even says all men are created equal ( tell that to the royal family see how far you get). I believe in science and fact, evolution and the like, not serpents talking in tongues. Yes I'll accept that I shouldn't mock those whose opinions are different to mine, but when the weight of evidence is heavily weighted in my favour it's hard not to take the piss a bit.

I certainly don't have all the answers. In fact, I don't have many at all. But I'm a strong minded, smart, friendly, respectful person...and I believe in God. Just my two cents.

Neither do I, and I suppose I believe in a God of Sorts, just not the churches and the bibles version, there's more evidence pointing to us originating from Mars than there is originating from Eve 7000 years ago. If you want a test of faith how about all us mugs still following Palace despite all the evidence that we are crap

No malice intended in my post at all. Enjoy Church on Sunday im going to t he pub LOL

It takes no 'faith' to be an atheist. Faith requires you to believe in something without evidence.

An atheist simply says that there is no good evidence to believe in a god or gods. It requires no other addition.

Personally I'm an agnostic atheist.......meaning that having faith in impossible to know nor provable beliefs is the act of an irrational person.

i would agree with you Sterling. With the extra caveat that freedom of worship & belief should be tolerated. Unlike the link below....

While it's true that I'm an agnostic.....I think it's also true that I'm a cultural Christian of the older form....I'm no fan of the modern interpretation of Christianity that values egalitarianism and universalism above all things....It's the wrong emphasis for me. Tribalism is survival and Christianity has feminised itself into irrelevance.

I'm far more critical of the damage that the abandonment of certain Christian values has caused society than I'd be of the Church itself....even though the modern Church is a woke joke and a caricature.

Nihilism may have truth within it but it is a far more destructive force on humanity than any religion.

As for the Police in the video....it should be remembered...unlike the Police force I grew up with....the modern version isn't your friend....just as mainstream politicians aren't your friend and don't deserve your automatic trust.
