Considering how he was left isolated for most of the time I thought Benteke did well. He kept winning the knock-ons in the air, but there was no one to feed off them. I was slightly disappointed by his new strike-partner. He had a couple of good runs with the ball, but some of his passes were very careless and he seems timid ( to the point of non-existent) when it comes to tackling. I’m also looking for a grittier, more determined attitude. I agree, he won nearly everything he went up for, and nodded it down to the same place every time, just no one there to collect it.

(Tempted to start on a thread specifically for this excuse of a footballer but will let it rest here) RIEDEWALD! Please someone set me straight but I swear the bloke only touched the ball three times. I have never seen a more petrified sod in my life.

So frustrating. Spurs should have scored before they did but the whole team bar one were complete warriors. When we stopped giving Spurs so much respect and came at them we even started looking nearly as good as they were. I suspect it's no coincidence Tomkins went off just before Spurs scored, at a time where if anything we were shading it. Wan-Bissaka was excellent, looked like he had been our right back for months. Tim sweeping around in defence showing great foresight and pace. Sorloth everything Benteke should be but isn't. Townsend not at his best. But oh, Benteke. We just need to give up on that guy. And I am sure we shall do when Wilf comes back. Agree with all of this Wan-Bissaka did very well defending and he is basically a winger I think Benteke, what more can be said, time to move on without him, Sørloth again played well and really tried for everything. And, on comes calamity Damo and bingo, goal from corner. If SP really wants to give Damo extra cash ,fine, givie him a coaching role, I expect he is a leader in the dressing room, but he's now well below the standard needed on the PL At least we didn't have the look of a team that has given up

My initial thought was that Riedewald should have been moved back to central defence as he has played there before but then I thought of the alternatives to take his place in midfield and there wasn't a viable option.

Or maybe used Sørloth as an extra defender the last couple of minutes, but it's easy in hindsight to tell...

If there's one thing I thought we would be able to rely on Damo for in the last few minutes I thought it would be set pieces. Very strange but not sure what happened really. Benteke played okay I thought, no where near as bad as most are making out, but people have made their minds up on him now so he will get abuse whatever. Great ball over the top for Sorloth to run on to he just got crowded out, then put another great ball in moments later that Dier just intercepted. Won a lot of headers too but I'm sure people will give him a 2/10 because he didn't chase the keeper down like a loon all game (even though he was being told to drop back and stay on Dembele)

If we'd had even one of Spurs three penalty shouts denied, they'd be blue murder on here. We absolutely rode our luck, and only favourable decisions, and Spurs many rickets in front of goal kept it at an unlikely nil nil. So frustrating to lose late on, especially due to a DD and Hennessey f*** up - Two players who we should have replaced years ago. But there we go. Honestly didnt see much at all to be positive in the performance. We are such a one-man-band with Zaha it's beyond ridiculous. Literally no threat without him. Benteke is a uselss lazy c*nt, who has no conception of playing for the team, despite his decent touches outside the area. Sorloth might be decent, but why bring in a CFWD and play them on the right side of a midfield four? Did ok-ish but not his game is it. Jimmy Mac put himself about a bit, and at least there seemed the vague possibility he could fashion something from a knock down first half, that aside second half we just camped deep in our own half, somehow keeping it level until the inevitable happened. How crap must Jach be if DD is keeping him out? I assume Roy doesnt rate him and is being stubborn in not picking him to prove a point. I cant for a minute imagine he'd be worse than DD currently, the man is a Polish international, that must mean he's at least somewhat capabel, shirley....
