Got no problem with female commentators, as long as they are good. There's a bloke (Irish, I think) who is just so banal, it's like listening to the ponderings of a not very knowledgeable bloke down the pub. What winds me up more is big team bias: I watched the Wigan v City game (well done Wigan BTW), and listened to them all agree that the Delph red card was very harsh, despite the fact he went in studs up halfway up the shin, and if the guy's leg had been planted he may well have broken it. Contrast that with Punch's attempted hooking of De Bruyne's leg to stop a breakaway (which he cocked up and ended up injuring both of them) and they were all convinced that should be a straight red, though it was unlikely to do any serious damage (as it turns out it twisted Punch's knee)

I haven't found a female one yet who is fit to plug in Barry Davies' microphone. Maybe there is a 'tone' issue but there was a cracking goal on MOTD this week - first time volley and they were saying a contender for goal of the month - all I could think of was the appalling commentating that would accompany it for eternity. When I think of some of the great goals the commentary goes hand in hand with it. If it's accompanied by one of the new female commentators it doesn't seem as good to me (In my no doubt mysoginist point of view). Sorry ladies, go and commentate on netball.
You fed me, you bred me, I'll remember your name. |

Agree with Tony Gale too, he's very annoying despite having played for us.

My second wife was surprisingly good at recounting games I'd missed when working late but as a rule, I'd agree with the OP, although I think it's maybe just a case of getting the right woman behind the Mike. There's enough inadequate male commentators to suggest that having testicles isn't actually the deciding factor.
Winning isn't everything. Without the defeats we would not value the victories. Still, it's a shame we can't play Chelsea every week. |

I agree the irish bloke was terrible to listen too. I thought Roslyn was bad until he started
