and if we finished 5th from bottom and kept hodgson, i would be delighted.

I think this year the bookies have as much idea as we have. Our inability to score the easiest of chances in a close game is a serious concern.

That I think is our only problem. The should have scored statistics or whatever they are called shows we are the worst in the league from failing to score from scoreable positions.. We create the opportunities but fail to convert. The law of averages says that this cannot continue so we are not down yet ! COYP

absolutely spot on. I dont think "easy " runs at the end of season can be relied upon. We wont have an easy time and those teams with "harder" end of season will make some surprise results like we did against arsenal, liverpool and chelsea.

On that basis we are going to do well in the next fixtures against the top sides. Either way we will get the points we need to survive , I hope ! COYP

The squad is I think a bit better than last season, but still very short in numbers. Sørloth and Reiderwald are quality additions but as opposed to that Benteke was actually scoring goals last season which he obviously isn’t this season, so essentially we still have only one fit active striker and that ain’t Benteke. Add to that the number of I;juries and and the situation is very perilous. IF Benteke starts scoring goals, Sørloth strata scoring goals too, Sakho comes back in good form, and mots of all, Zaha and Schlupp come back by mid March (ish) then we have a decent chance of staying up.

the absence of FA cup games must surely be an advantage to our injury list. The Prem is everything.

The winning run? When we beat Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal? The fixtures coming up are no worse, except Man U who we never beat.
This time last year we were getting spanked by Sunderland. Have some faith.

No, this time last year we had beaten West Brom 2-0 away from home with a convincing performance, with Sakho finally playing, PvA playing well, Zaha, and many others.
This year almost everyone's injured and the ones who are fit enough to play are playing like idiots.

In fact, this whole thread is pointless. If we don't beat Spurs then at that point last year we'd have more points than we do now. We're literally 2 points higher than last season, but this stage last season we couldn't stop winning, now we just can't win

Lies, damn lies,..and statistics.

You can state a case for every scenario.

We are 1 point above the drop zone, with plenty of opportunities for CPFC to implode, or others around us to improve.

We can be optimistic, negative or cautious in our assessment.

Personally, I'm 5hltting myself.

Signings were good. Sorloth so far has played his part well. But considering our squad situation. It still leaves us very short. Especially in the goalie department

Personally I need to see them all play for the Palace for a few games.
Then I will decide if it’s as good a window as January and August 2017.
Just short of a third goaly now.

This place has gone a bit mental after last weekend. Did those who seem to think we are now definitely doomed really think we wouldn't lose another game and that the teams below us wouldn't win another? I am still worried about our survival prospects but this volte face is totally mental. We have lost 3 games in, like, an age and 2 were against Arsenal. Our squad situation is frankly extraordinary but I really don't see why we are SUDDENLY so s***. I had expected us to go down after the first 6/7 games so the fact we're in with a fighting chance now is pleasing to me. It is our s*** start that has meant we're not upper-midtable but you seriously cannot react so flippantly to each result/weekend of results. We will likely end up in the relegation zone again before the end of the season but keep your cool!
