Oh boy. That so whooshed you.

To be clear I do not envy Jakie. I have enough of all I need and desire. I have almost certainly had a more interesting and fulfilling life than the Jakester.

I find the morality of someone that wishes to legislate against rights of others yet does all he can to run rings around tax legislation dubious. It appears he invents morals to suit his own interests.

That could as easily & does appear too describe both John Prescott and Mandelson far worse scumbags in my opinion because they both claim to represent the working class, but are both blatantly ripping them off ..

When I was at university Pressa was the MP. Most of us refused to vote for him. A legend in his own lunch time and deeply untrusted.

Mandelson is more complex.

The High Court Judge Baron Tomlin famously said:-

"Every man is entitled if he can to order his affairs so as that the tax attaching under the appropriate Acts is less than it otherwise would be. If he succeeds in ordering them so as to secure this result, then, however unappreciative the Commissioners of Inland Revenue or his fellow taxpayers may be of his ingenuity, he cannot be compelled to pay an increased tax."

I wonder how many of the people complaining about Rees-Mogg's tax affairs are tradesmen working wholly or partly cash in hand which unlike Rees-Mogg's tax avoidance is illegal tax evasion

And of those I wonder how many are in the Government and responsible for tax policy and legislation

One of my neighbours was a self employed plumber and we were chatting whilst he was washing his 5 series BMW and he was complaining that at the end of the month he was having to pay his self assessment tax of £1,500

I don't blame him. Anyone that works gets sweet FA for their tax. Just pays for wastage and wasters. And you get much more for your tax in England than I do in Ireland. 50 a pop for the doctor - without the price of any treatment and/ or medicine. Can't afford the dentist, although I need plenty of things done.
