I don't want to be anyone's second team. That's the kind of patronising sentiment reserved for a plucky underdog who doesn't truly represent s threat to their main team. We've been in the league for 5 years now, can beat anyone on our day and, sorry to be a b******, but I want it to hurt as much as possible when we do!
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |

Agree but I do like the idea of being a favoured away venue and people looking after us when we go away. Some of the best times of my life going to away games and getting bought beers by the locals. Blades fans on days we played Wednesday springs to mind.

The only reason why glory hunting gits like us, is because palace don’t challenge for honours If we all of a sudden made the champions league or won the FA cup three or four times in the next few years, you just watch the admiration turn to envy and hate The only fans who have a gripe with us as things stand are real fans of smaller clubs like Brighton and Millwall and Charlton

I was in a restaurant (in Miami) a couple months back, the server was from Israel, he was going to college here. I was quite taken aback. Of course, he could have just been looking for a bigger tip, but he knew stuff about palace, so i gave him the benefit of the doubt.

Many fans of other Teams I have talked to recently,Chelsea,Spurs,Arsenal,W Ham etc, have much to my surprise commented on how they like and respect Palace and its fans.I do wonder if this something others have experienced. Edited by billtheglazier (14 Jan 2018 10.46pm) Edited by billtheglazier (15 Jan 2018 8.45am) It was only a year or so ago that I read on the Liverpool fans' forum a description of our supporters: "A bunch of noisy c*nts". Funnily enough, I took that as not malicious and almost a compliment.

In America, the Palace story resonates because of all the adversity. Twice bankrupt, almost liquidated and yet a colorful club with flair. It also helps that the club has idiosyncrasies that we Yanks identify with "being British/English." Our name is also seen as being typically and a loveable British name. Some even ask me where our Palace is and does the Queen live there. Edited by kenbarr (14 Jan 2018 11.28pm)
