I thought Jimmy Mac was MOM as he influenced all over the park. Twinned with Wilf and was less well marshalled. Sakho was great and his energy and power were game changers compared with the recent past. Benteke still lacking confidence. But better now he has a second striker to feed. TFM generally good. A fast and clever player still learning how to be a safe right back. PVA looked very good, better than Schlupp. Luka had a great game. Probably we did miss Cabaye for his guile and killer passes. Hennessy played IMO because of his kicking. We missed out the midfield much of the time. Edited by Mapletree (13 Jan 2018 11.44pm)

Tomkins was my man of the match. He didn't put a foot wrong and was immense. The rest of the back 4 were also great. I felt Luka had his worst game for us for a while with too many misplaced simple passes but the whole team worked very hard yesterday and I thought we deserved the win.

Tomkins and Kelly were brilliant. Clean sheets at home against the polar opposite styles of City and Burnley.... PVA looking like a proper player again is also good to see. It's a great feeling to be watching the game and not dreading the once-inevitable moment of madness that would cost us the game.
Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune) |

Usually in with the HF in Block B but moved to the Arthur for this as I was taking someone. Liked it a lot seeing as it reminded me of going as a kid in there and was a decent atmosphere still but with a much better view (was not behind a pillar). We were all over them first half and could have got 2 or 3 really. Second half we showed our new defensive resilience to cover for the tired legs and were good value for the 3 points. Benteke was poo in the box but instrumental outside, winning headers and distributing to midfielders and Sako. The full backs did well again and yet again Tomkins and Kelly looked a formidable pairing. McArthur was the best of the midfield with his typical be everywhere style though Jairo had a quietly neat game. What Roy has done with Sako is amazing, he is so direct and threatening with the fitness and effort to match. Wilf was quiet but still had a couple of moments and it was great to see Luka back him up after that shove into the camera. Off the ball we are just excellent, a testament to Roy, Ray and Reid's work. So well organised. I'd like a creative central player in the window to take the load off Wilf on the ball though. A proper hard b****** Palace performance and win

Sat in block X in the Arthur. Got to the ground early enough to see Hennesey walking into the stadium from his car. Awesome atmosphere for the entire game, constant singing, the crowd was loud, kudos to the Holmesdale for their energy. And I'm one of the people who enjoys the drumming. We dominated the first half, and could have easily had 2-3 goals. Ironically, Sako's goal was the most difficult chance that we converted. We missed much easier chances than that one. All the fans in my section got out of their seats every time Sako had the ball. He was great, MOTM in my opinion. Zaha seemed a bit off his game, but still had some flashes, like the ball he chipped over the keeper's head. I also liked PVA's play. I think he plays with a hard edge to him. Hennesey had a good game, and it was nice to hear the fans singing his name after that late game break away that he broke up. All in all, it was a great team win with everyone contributing, and a really fun and entertaining game to watch live.
