Nah, teams with good first half’s that have started to fall away will keep on plummeting.

As to the original question - keep playing the regulars or blood some youth - the answer clearly is the former. It would be foolhardy to take our foot of the gas until we're mathematically safe, and I think this is going to be a circus that runs right down to the last weekend.

Swansea and West Brom have started to fall away, but only by a fraction. In reality, they're each only 1 win away from rejoining the rest of the crowd in the bottom half of the division. We need to keep accumulating points until such time as there are three teams guaranteed to finish below us, and then we can see what's what.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

I'm not normally an optimist but I've actually been thinking we could go unbeaten to the end of the season (stop laughing at the back). As we started with seven defeats how cool would it be if we ended up finishing 7th?! Burnley are 12 points ahead of us currently in 7th and next up at SP.

You heard it here first!

The nurse is now bringing my medication.

Win the last 7 and end up 7th! I'll buy you a pint if that happens

Going to be a scrappy finish, all teams below us are showing signs of life and cant write any of them off.

WBA are going down though, we know that.

With this in mind, do we go for points after this or blood in youth players to give us more depth for next season. Injuries have nearly killed us the last couple of seasons and we don’t have the best squad depth as we know, so why not blood in players under 21 that can stay in the squad but don’t need to be named in the 25. Also, we will have a number of players leaving in the Summer so need new blood to step up cause I’d rather we bought quality with a few academy stars than bought average players (I’m thinking players like Mutch, Lee, etc)

Thoughts? (And I know a number of fans will say it’s too early to think of this, just thinking long term)

What a ridiculous excuse to create a thread. Terrible question. Do you not know that the club receives a certain amount of money dependent on their league position? Why give up at 38 points ?

Some people on here drive me bonkers.

That's what Stoke did last season and I lost all respect for them. They're now getting a taste of their own medicine.

I think the OP meant what should we do once we're mathematical safe? Blood young players or try to improve the league position as much as possible for the £1.9m cash per place.

Personally I'd say it depends where we are and how far away other teams are. To early to say what to do, but would be nice at some point this season to see some come through if possible.

Last two / three games maybe. Or maybe in the cup tonight.

I doubt Roy will bother unless he thinks he's seen something in them. But I'm sure he's as aware as anyone that it'd be good to bring players through as our funds are certainly not limitless.

That being said if it's possible or realistic to chase down a top half finish I'd be pleased to see us do that as well, remembering league position will also help us attract players in the summer.

Personally I don't see us finishing lower than 12 and wouldn't be surprised if we finish 10th or higher....

Which would be frankly ridiculous considering where we've come from...

So in Roy we trust!

Drive you bonkers? It's clear to anyone reading your posts that you already quite clearly deranged already.

Anyway Tony, ignoring the latest village idiot. We've only won 5 games with more than half the season gone. Plus given that all the big teams under Man City are dropping lots of points and all the teams in the bottom half beating each other I think it's going to be a high points total required this year for survival.

Winning another 6 is a big ask.

Hi jeeagles, in your first paragraph you put ‘already’ twice in the same sentence. Whoopsy! Try proof-reading before you abuse me, yeah?
