We're likely to see 4 or 5 rested, players like Townsend and Luka who get through so much running each game.

Speroni

TFM - Kelly - Tomkins - Souare

Zaha - McArthur - Riedewald - PVA

Benteke - Sako

Wouldn't surprise me to see something like that for the game. Ward and Loftus-Cheek fit would likely change a couple of those choices.

Risk our only two fit first choice CB's?

Can we play the loan players as they are season long, or can Chelsea and Man U forbid it?

RLC played in the league cup so i'm assuming he can (if fit) in the FA cup as well...cant see why TFM would be any different either.

Not much choice we have with injuries. If Ward is fit, would imagine TFM at CB and Tomkins rested. We also seem to be in the market for another CB.

Roy would be foolish , and he clearly is not , to risk injury to any of our key players. Tiredness is not so much the issue as they will be rested by next Monday.
Priority has got to be survival in the Premiership and that will only be more difficult if we get more injuries. We have to play the perceived second string the fact it is against Brighton is irrelevant.

While I agree with a lot of this, I feel the factor of Brighton is relevant. Losing to your biggest rivals after we've got great momentum at the moment would not be ideal preparation for a difficult game against Burnley next week.

Players that get through a lot of running could benefit from resting (Townsend/Luka) and anyone with any slight knocks. But our team with 5/6 changes in it is still capable of beating Brighton.

I just feel it would give fans and players a massive buzz going into the Burnley game.

Well said. Totally agree.

I think you over-estimate how much most of the players care about this fixture tbh (especially on the strength of the "passion" shown in the last game against them). I think the players and a lot of the fans are prioritising survival in the league, which is as it should be.

IT probably would give the fans a lift much more so than the players. On the other hand if we get injuries to key players and they are out for a couple of premier league games then that will give both fans and players a negativity boost which is not worth risking. As you say our second string will probably be too good for Brightons second string anyway! COYP

To finish above Brighton in the Premier League table is the true measure of bragging rights and the true local derby.

the F.A cup is worth sweet F.A these days.

I get the logic behind rotating but the thought of playing the vermin with the stiffs is not one I can get behind.
