Very impressed with Roy's management skills, tactics and substitutions and what he has got out of the squad as a whole, not just the star players.
We look solid under him and given a couple of years I think he has the potential to become our second most successful manager ever.
It makes me think that appointing De Boer was meant to be. Would Parish ever have considered Roy if we werent in the mess we were in under De Boer? We were considering Pellegrino at the time, some were disappointed we didnt get him, but look where Southampton are now, in decline, while we are on the ascendance.

Did it all work out for the best? Was Allardyce's resignation and De Boer's disastrous spell a blessing in disguise?
I think, yes.
Would rather be where we are now than in the same position with Allardyce in charge.
Perhaps Parish is a genius after all?
He certainly turned it around whatever mistakes he may have made.

De Boer was the kind of blessing you get from a flying pig if it decides to have a dump as it passes overhead.

Remember all the hand wringers joining in with the pundits saying we are a joke of a club because Mr Parish recognized his mistake in appointing Frank? I know we are not out of the woods yet but my goodness his bold decision and seeing his mistake early has given us a chance.

I also remember the nay sayers talking about Roy's age and what happened with England. I've seen very few saying they were horribly wrong.

Not quite correct, in the I LOVE ROY threads, quite a few have owned up and said they were wrong not to want him.
However, the nameless one who posted hate and ridicule at every opportunity has completely disappeared,up his own ar$e i hope

Roy and the squad, the whole squad are a credit to themselves and thereby to us. That never say die attitude which was the mark of the team/club going back to the 60's when Roy started his career with us shines through. Oh and as child of the late 50s early 60's I love 442 attack like eagles, defend like a wall, like the Great Johns of yore.

Cant put Allardyce and De Boer in the same sentence
Sam did a magnificent job for us
De Boer as I always said should have been sacked after Huddersfield
Roy has always been a class act , and as I also said, would get us organized and disciplined .
Sam or Roy I would happily take them both forever

That couple of years for Woy to become the best manager in Palace history may not be possible. Most retire long before seventy.
At least Woy will not Go the way of other managers because (I believe) they cannot spend freely in their own right.

Fair play to Roy, he's done a fantastic job and been a complete gentleman about it.
As Roy said, "my wife could spot the weaknesses in the team"
Just wish he was here for the longer term
