Now the issue here is that regardless of injury, if we do not have more than 25 players that need to be named for the Prem, he will have to be named (as Wickham had to be in September).

That does then use a space that could be used for a new signing - assuming we're going to sign anyone

Similarly if we do sign someone we don't have to free up a space as if Punch and Dann now out for the season we have 2 spare places.

i don't think it works that way. If they're injured, but still registered with the club, and we only have 25 senior players (that need to be named) then they are included. Wickham was included in Sept but was always unlikely to be fit before January. To leave JP and SD out of the 25, we have to have 27 (or more) players registered that fit the criteria for the 25.
