Yes understand your thinking but he has just started a 5 year contract and whilst we all know that is designed to also give us a good fee we are still in the driving seat as to when he will be sold and IMO this should not be January and the manager and board should be on the same page on this. I concur with this, I think Roy's being shrewd, saying "he's not for sale" could slightly de-motivate, but by being realistic & saying we may possibly release if a Champs league team make an acceptable offer, then he's effectively saying to Wilf - Go on then son,keep going & improve further.

I concur with this, I think Roy's being shrewd, saying "he's not for sale" could slightly de-motivate, but by being realistic & saying we may possibly release if a Champs league team make an acceptable offer, then he's effectively saying to Wilf - Go on then son,keep going & improve further.

He speaks exceptionally well at press conferences, talks a lot of sense and is clearly enjoying the management challenge at Palace. Roy picked a cracking team yesterday, left plenty of people wondering initially (myself included) in some of his choices however couldn’t fault his selection by the end of the match! I believe that Roy is inclusive of the whole squad, his training practices are clear and concise, has included a lot of defensive and stamina training and he clearly knows how to work with and motivate every squad member. Some players who were clearly out in the cold now starting to respond 'under new management' Also by selecting Hennessey yesterday, he seems to now have both keepers back in the frame, hungry and vying for selection (yes, we do still need to strengthen in this area) however, makes me wonder how he would have coped with Mandanda? I bet Roy would have managed him better and Steve would still be here! There is also a perceived improvement in the players fitness levels. Palace are now putting teams under massive pressure late into matches, still looking to score late goals even into extra time (that never used to happen). Luka reportedly covering 12.69 km (the furthest distance of any player) against Manchester City yesterday.

Roy picked a cracking team yesterday, left plenty of people wondering initially (myself included) in some of his choices however couldn’t fault his selection by the end of the match!
