just looked at the fixture list. In many cases the teams we face will have fresher legs with a longer break from their previous game.

As observed by the manager, this got us last xmas. We got done by a well rested Swansea just 48 hours after our tough game against Arsenal.

This fixture list looks really unfair.

us versus Man City just 60 hours after finishing a tough Arsenal game. City have an extra 24 hours rest.

then we have 56 hours recovery-time to face a Southampton who got an extra 24 hours rest.

And so versus City, one of the best teams on the planet for the last few years. should Roy field our first team or play the kids and dinner ladies while parking the bus ?

Seems to me that we most likely to get a point/s against Arse and/or Soton. Best available team against these two and rest a few of our key (most knackered) players against ManC - which we will almost certainly loose.
Given our 'thin' squad we really need to target the games most likely to bring points during this busy period.

I think you can’t look at the fixtures in isolation. According to a table I saw recently, concerning number of games played over a number of days, we are like midtable. The Arsenal and City games are freehits where we aren’t expected to take anything from them so in a way it’s good to have games like that then rather than crucial games vs teams around us

Agreed. it would be nice to be the team that ended City's run but we have to be realistic. I'd start Zaha and Benteke, though, to give them something to think about. Probably take them off assuming game is out of reach and give Puncheon a last hurrah

Arsenal are definitely not unbeatable. If Ozil doesn't turn up and with Ramsey missing they may have trouble scoring whilst players like Cech, Bellerin and Koscielny(sp) are not the players of a year ago

They should work out how to get around this by now. In rugby league they’re getting absolutely smashed to bits out there on a Saturday then they’re back at it again in the week.

Good article on bbc sport , showing distances and hours between games.

Actually we’re not badly done by.

And its about now that this fixture madness becomes pertinent....Man City got an extra 24 hours rest. Our next game will be a nightmare.
