Rumour mill starting earlly!

Could benefit from Benteke knockdowns I suppose? But hasn’t exactly shone brightly at Bournmouth... Myabe £10-15m a ‘decent’ price for a second striker?

I think we'll bring in two strikers.

So we could've got Cenk for £17 mil if we'd broken our habit and got our act together and instead it could be Afobe for a couple of mil less.

A bit meh really but we could be on a knife edge with relegation at best in January because we didn't address it in August so spending money on better and actually them coming we may have stuffed ourselves there again.

He has scored a few prem goals and is a bit of a handful so I can see why. I remember him being close a few times when they beat us and assaulted Wilf midweek at SP after they just signed him when it was the time we should've been adding a permanent striker and not Adebayor.

He's going to be one of many in several positions Freedman will be looking at so we'll see where we are and who we can attract or risk money on if we're still in dodgy territory.

Could be a good squad striker.
His 10 goals from 30 full starts is not as good as Wickham's at 7 from 19 but he is less prone to injury I think.

He can score with either foot and his head but then so should a premier league striker.

Is he worth £15 million? Not sure

He's a fine player. Seen him many times since his Arsenal days. As long as he has minutes, he delivers.
If you send him in 5-10 minutes only, surely he'll gather matches without goals scored. Eddie Howe fancies Callum Wilson big time. But last year, when Callum Wilson broke his leg, it was Benik Afobe who stepped up and did a great job, keeping them in the Premier League

He wasn't that prolific as a goalscorer, only scoring 6 goals in 31 PL appearances last season.I believe Bournemouth paid Wolves £10 Mill for him.

7 of those 31 appearances were under 15 minutes. 2 appearances were actually of 1 minute of gametime, against Everton and Watford. When he was kept on for 90 minutes (after Wilson's injury), he started scoring. He also provided 3 assists, which is just as important. I evaluate him according to a 24 year football player. And for that age, he's very, very good. He's already had a terrific 14/15 in the Championship and has since steadily improved in the top level- the PL.
But if you're asking if a 24 yo striker like Afobe is a savior who can solely prevent Palace from going down, then the answer is obviously no.
Still, more agile and roughly as just as good a finisher as Benteke. But only costs less than half what Benteke costs. Financially would be an improvement for the club to sell Benteke and get Afobe+ have 10-15 million left to spend on other strikers

Seem to remember we were sniffing around him one Jan earlier on. Went to Bournemouth and scored a few important goals for them who were struggling as well. If he can replicate the same here could be worth a punt but would like another striker as well.
