When I was young, raising a hand to a woman was regarded as the worst thing that a man worthy of the name could do. It was totally unacceptable to all the adult men that I knew. Problem is though, it was just as common place, if not more so. Bit like raping children, everyone knew it was wrong, but no one really seemed to care that much.

Love it. How to deal with bullies. The end. I think the key point would probably be the 'never seen with bruises again'. Do you think they really stopped a pattern of violent abuse, that was ritualised, because they'd been given a beating. Or do you think they just became more careful?

Then you cited a study that was about violence in relationships only, that said men are the victims 40% of the time, suggesting that women are the victims 60% of the time. You made a sweeping generalization, then tried to support it with cherry-picked data. You are the one ignoring - or trying to obfuscate - "a lot of stuff". In Scotland about 20% of domestic abuse victims are men and in 10% of those cases the perpetrator is also a man. That and a number of other stats here. That says nothing about the nature of the violence, the circumstances, reasons or effects. Just the number of cases. However, 15 men were killed by their partners in the year to March 2016. Total number of refuge places for men in Scotland: 0.
