Ok to give this some perspective I'm referring to an under 9's game that I recently watched.

Not that it should matter it the dieing seconds of the game. The play is just outside the defenders penalty area.

A defender is on the floor and he is shielding the ball, not touching the attacking player.

The attacker is trying to get the ball.

The ref blows the whistle what decision should be given.

Depends what the attacker is doing to try and get the ball.

The ball is under the defenders legs, the attacker is trying to kick the ball out. He is not kicking the player.

If it was us against (say) ManU it would be a free kick to ManU.

If it was (say) ManU against us it would be a free kick to ManU.

In both cases a yellow card to our player.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Yes a bounce up would've been fair.
