And people blame the foreigners because there's too many of them over here, which restricts the number of promising English youngsters progressing.

Some of the younger age group players seem to be going down this route. Jadon Sancho left Man City for Dortmund, Mason Mount is playing for Vitesse Arnhem on loan from Chelsea and there are quite a few others.
