I am rather more concerned about the reports that Arsenal want to sign him for £35M to replace Sanchez.
It is a shame that he wont play on the highest stage, but if we can keep hold of him it does mean he gets a proper rest over the summer.

He should definitely have had a penalty!

How come Wilf never seems to get penalties

Ha ha. I thought he was going off to play for a better international team.

I don't think he ever claimed to have chosen Ivory Coast as a better international team. He obviously felt that he was never going to get another opportunity to play for England and playing for the country of his birth would give him a better international career, on the grounds some games are better than none!

He made a big mistake playing for the Ivory coast. He didnt deserve to be picked for the England squad when he made that decision. But would have got his chance and had a great chance of being in the next World Cup.

In all honesty how many Palace players or players from teams in the bottom few every season play for England more than once or twice in a friendly?

Things need to change. Bringing through the successful players in younger age groups needs to happen, regardless of whether the prem teams play them before that.

Possible problem for Palace is totally understandably he wants to play on the biggest stage possible. Now he wont be at a World Cup for a minimum of 4 and a half years the fear is he may start to look at moves to a 'bigger' club to enable Champions League football or at least European.
Unfortunately right now we cant even guarantee Premiership football beyond this season (although I do believe personally that will change in the spring)
