Cross was Lechmere. He used the name Cross.

Neither the watch or diary have been confirmed as forgeries as far as I know.

There was a recent documentary on History channel where the American, HH Holmes was investigated as a Ripper candidate. His known story is way more interesting than 'Jack'. It was a bit daft but I confess that I kept watching because it had a very hot ex FBI lady in it.

The diary follows press reports of the murders and has inaccuracies from within it.

The diary was admitted as a forgery and then the confession was retracted...Here is the confession:
[Link] reason for the retraction?.....there's money in them hills...is how I see that.

To me, these kind of things are secular versions of Christian relics.....demand and supply.

The link won't open.

I believe there have been many red herrings in the case including all the letters. They have misdirected many investigations since.

Seems to me that the policeman's actions when finding Lechmere with the body are very significant. He seems to have been unsure if the woman was dead and sat her up. That means there could have been little or no blood which would be consistant with being strangled and then cut open very recently. No one else was in sight except Lechmere in the whole street.

Hopefully that works.

The evidence against Cross....to my mind is mostly in the route for his work and that he could have been discovered and was then believed....but there isn't much else against him.

Aaron Kosminski is a stronger suspect for me....but hell knows.

I saw the HH Holmes documentary. Surprisingly there was a lot of circumstantial evidence. Ultimately I was not convinced because Holmes was a meticulous planner who disposed of his bodies (up to 200) by building an elaborate murder hotel. To me Jack the Ripper was a thrill killer who acted on impulse.

The documentary about Cross was very interesting. Cross appears to lied under oath about how he found the body. Well people do lie for other reasons, maybe he was committing an unrelated crime or something he didn't want to own up to? Lying to the police is certainly suspicious and there was other evidence but we are never going to know the truth.

There is doubt about the identity of 'Kominski'. No one seems to be sure who he was and the DNA evience is dodgy to say the least.

I'm going with the man who was at the scene of a murder which seems to have been committed only moments earlier. If it was today, he would be number one suspect. Lechmere/Cross is my guy.
