Is this a stupid question - what's the possibility of a good night out in Brighton after the game?

My company actually have an office in Brighton so I can be in the area before and after the game and stay the night.

In my mind, I find it hard to believe that this rivalry, no matter how heated, could be a dangerous atmosphere in the area of Brighton of all places.

There wouldn't be an accent that gave us away being that we're all from the South and needless to say I wouldn't be wearing Colours on the night out.

I have never been to a Brighton away game and only know the area for it's various alternative pubs and clubs (no I don't mean gay bars though I have nothing against them).

Am I right in thinking once the game is over, win, lose or draw, the footie fans will either be in obvious looking old-mens pubs/home and I'll be free to enjoy a regular night out in Brighty?

Or is it a case of come back home to Croydon no matter what, I will get my head kicked in?

I know by and large this is the same rule for any away game but obviously there are some rivalries like West Ham/Millwall where you just do not risk it.

Having never been to Brighton away or experienced the rivalry from the 80's, I wanted to double check in case the answer was something along the lines of - DO NOT GO OUT. Every student, local, pensioner, gay person etc locks and shutters their windows and Palace and Brighton just run through the Lanes, along the pier, through the strip clubs, just murdering eachother.

I hope you have a better birthday than what I did. I got a couple of nice goals for mine but I also got a goalie gaffe, two points dropped and a ref so bent he's in danger of disappearing up his own arse.

Haha cheers for the advice but just to be clear I’m not a young teen scared of what he’s seen on the telly. The opposite in fact, I may not be ‘old’ but I’m in my late twenties with a decent job and ‘getting too old for this ****’. Wouldn’t wanna lose my job because I turn up to a meeting with 2 Brighton black eyes just because I fancied a night out on the raz after the game.

regency square has a good bar in the artists hotel.
car park there also.
the regency pub is tucked in corner-older gay crowd , laid back.
next to it in preston st is a load of restuarants(casalingo Italian is very good , also greek & turk)
theres a few pubs / bars in same road also.
medusa is older crowd & Maggie may is a young gay bar with tribute bands-friendly.

Kids,tired of being bothered by your pesky parents?
Then leave home, get a job & pay your own bills, while you still know everything.
