She is a response to 'progressive politics'. On that score I like her. Yeah, she does say some vile things and vile things have been said and done to her. But as for divisive....na, that division isn't created, it's there. You "like" a women who says she judges children on there names? Whether or not she held the exact same political opinions as me, I'd still think she's an absolute vile piece of s***. Nothing worse than someone who splurts outrageous & divisive poison just to further her own career. It's not clever, it's the act of a complete scumbag.

I kind of like that you use the forums to vent even if I don't share your views. There's a kind of refreshing honestly and value to that. You represent a body of people and that's valid. I think a judgement on children's names is more a judgement upon the parents. Katie Hopkins isn't an MP she's a shock jock. She does say some things I regard as going too far...'immigrants as cockroaches for example and she's alright with basically calling Khan a cnut. Any criticisms of vileness about Hopkins can also be visited upon the reactions to her, like that court case with...what I regard as a ridiculous outcome or the constant threats of physical violence she gets. People writing a play about her assassination. Outside of the violence threats all this is free speech and so while worthy of criticism it's valid....however, if we are going to bash her for hyperbolic reactions, then the reactions to her come under that same description. I don't agree with your point on division....that division is there, just as the politics between us is divided. She expresses the beliefs of many people on quite a few things. Her voice being heard is as legitimate as your voice being heard. She's a nationalist, so I like that. She logical and rational, which I also like. She points out the faults of progressivism and I like that. But yes, it does go too far. Edited by Stirlingsays (12 Nov 2017 4.07am)

Would've lost the opportunity to form many friendships I did at a young age with kids from a working class background if I felt any particular way towards them due to nothing besides a name that they didn't even pick themselves. Wouldn't dream of restricting a child's choice of friendship because of a name either. If someone has a name associated with a lower class of society, what is wrong with that exactly anyway? Stereotypes are formed from small minded people as a way of justifying prejudice and they can be applied to either end of society. I think most level headed people understand that punishing a majority for the actions of a minority in any situation is pointless, when it's using kids names as a way of assessing the likelihood of a certain class and subsequently the likelihood of a bad influence, it's just nonsense. Sometimes I think people just agree with outlandish statements just because it sounds a bit outrageous and "political correctness gone mad init". Some people genuinely do live in a world where these ideas simply aren't recognisable. Edited by Mstrobez (13 Nov 2017 1.57am)
