Getting FDB in with his 'long term plans' was a pointer to what's wrong. Long term plans are the wrong plans for a club like us.
It's OK to plan long term for the stadium, the training ground and so on but not for the team, not yet.
We need a much deeper squad with a touch more quality than we have now. We need a couple of solid mid-table seasons under our belt first.
What we need is a plan for this season, how to cope with the styles of football we're going to meet each week. That's a big enough task without pipe dreams of playing like Ajax in four years time.
Hopefully SP has been brought down to earth by events in the league (and Bristol) because he wouldn't have endorsed FDB's impossible dream unless he is harbouring similar fantasies.
Focus on now, let the future take care of itself.....or we might not have a future.

Winning isn't everything. Without the defeats we would not value the victories. Still, it's a shame we can't play Chelsea every week.
